Winter weather advisory posted
A winter weather advisory for Miller and surrounding counties has been posted until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9. Two to five inches of snow are expected to accumulate in this area before snowfall ends early Tuesday morning, although snowfall rates through early afternoon of Monday, Feb. 8, are expected to remain light. As a cold front moves closer, snowfall rates will increase during Monday afternoon and winds are expected to pick up.

Miller County road workers were out early Saturday, Feb. 6, plowing snow and spreading mixtures of salt, cinders and sand on gravel roads. Typically, the workers start hitting the roads between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. using graders and dump trucks and smaller trucks fitted with blades and sometimes spreaders, as this truck is. A winter storm watch has been posted for Miller and surrounding counties, starting late Sunday night and running through Monday night. The National Weather Service said snow accumulation in excess of 6 inches will be possible, with the exact position of the heaviest band of snow uncertain as of Saturday morning. Colder than normal temperatures will be behind that storm.
