Be sure to plan your holiday celebration activities with a ticket to our upcoming Christmas show. Rehearsals for the “Holiday Revue - A Christmas Celebration” continue for the opening night gala.
Holiday music and literary collections will be incorporated into a storyline presentation. There are two performance, 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Royal Theatre.
This Christmas-inspired, narrated production was written by Royal Arts Council board member, Lois Viebrock. Your favorite carols and hymns related to the holiday season will be featured. The music selections will be sung by a group of carolers, men’s and ladies quartet, ladies trio, duets and solos.
A storyline presentation will tell the story of Christmas and the traditions that bring the meaning of this holiday to life. Christmas festivities, beautiful set designs and easy listening will highlight each night’s performance. Members of the Hawthorn Dance Troupe of Versailles will perform two dance numbers.
Tickets may be reserved by calling the theatre box office at 573-378-6226 or they can be purchased the night of the event. Office hours are 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. Adult tickets are $10. A student/child (ages 3-18) ticket is $5.
“A Parade of Santas,” a collection by George Conklin, will be on display in the adjoining building, the Dimond Annex. Conklin’s collection will include all sizes and makes of Santas. The exhibit will be on display the night of the Holiday Revue production, prior to the event and during intermission. Viewing will also be available during regular office hours of the theatre.
On Sunday, Dec. 14, we have the free Lake Area Community Orchestra Winter Concert here. This concert always brings beautiful music to our auditorium. Remember, this concert begins at 7:30 p.m., a half hour later than our regularly scheduled events. We also have coming up our first concert of 20009, the Carl Acuff, Jr. concert. Yes, he is a relative to Roy Acuff. This concert will have something for everyone: Top 40 and classic country, gospel, nostalgic rock-n-roll, comedy, and a patriotic salute to our military. This concert is at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9, 2009.
Please keep in mind that our concerts are normally on Saturday evenings, but this concert will be on a Friday. Make plans now. We are very fortunate to be able to bring such notability to our small community. We presented Pake McEntire last year. Those that weren’t able to listen to a country music star, h ave their chance with Carl Acuff, Jr.
As always, tickets for this event are adults $10 and student/child $5. Call the box office at 573-378-6226, for your reservation today.
